ViaNet A.S., located in Istanbul, Turkey, is one of the first alternative carriers in Turkey to own a license for long distance, international and prepaid traffic. ViaNet plans to start providing Prepaid Services in mid August with Prepaid Services and call-by-call Post-Paid Services to follow shortly. Service focus will be on Turkish hotels and large business customers, followed by residential customers. ViaNet will have a full-fledged VoIP powered TELES.iSWITCH S100 in their central location in Istanbul and nine TELES.iXESS VoIP switching satellites collecting and delivering the traffic from and to the local points of presence (POPs). International carriers will be interconnected in Istanbul while interconnection to Turkish Telecom is planned via the local POPs. "Beside the easy migration from DSS1 to SS7 and the outstanding price-performance-ratio of TELES.iSWITCH and TELES.iXESS, the convincing upgrade and extension strategy of TELES was the most important fact for ViaNet to decide for TELES in the competition with big names such as Cisco, Siemens and Alcatel” said Zafer Arikan, CTO of ViaNet. The total project time from installation to deployment is expected to be less than 3 weeks.
