Japan to Be the Biggest Source of car Import for China Due to the obvious increase in imports of cars from Japan in April and May, Japan has replaced Germany to be China's biggest source of car import cars. Currently, Chinese car import car were mainly from Japan, Germany and Korea, accounting for 85% of total market share. According to Customs statistics, in January through May, China imported 25097 cars from Japan with a value of US$700 million, down by 29.8% and 14.9% respectively on year-on-year basis. Nevertheless, in the first 5 months, imports of cars from Germany totaled 18485 units and valued at US$870 million, up by 97.6% and 75.6% respectively. Imports from Japan accounted for 35% of total imports, from Germany for 26% and from Korea for 24%. And other sources of car import were USA, Czechoslovakia, Sweden and UK and other countries and regions.
