Border Trade maintained dominant momentum in first half of 2004 in China According to statistics of customs, border trade of China realized Imports and exports of US$ 4.25 billion with an increase of 29.8%. Of which exports were US$1.61 billion, increased by 55.9%; Imports 2.64 billion, up by 17.7%. Following were major characters of small-scale border trade: 1 border trade between Russia and Kazakstan accounted for 80% 2 border trade of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia accounted for 80% in total value. 3 Private enterprises has become major force£¬ state-owned enterprises, and import and exports maintained rapid growth. 4 Railway is the main form of transportation in border trade, the next is automobile transport. 5 Major export commodities were manufactured products, garment, footwear, plastic articles¡¢vegetable and fruit¡¢ electrometrical products. Garment and footwear maintained high-speed growth. Import was mainly resource material and products.
