LINKOTEL Deploys TELES.iSWITCH for Interconnectivity with LIETUVAS TELEKOMAS

Berlin, July 7, 2004 - TELES Communication Systems, a highly innovative European telecommunications infrastructure vendor, has successfully deployed its TELES.iSWITCH switching system to provide interconnectivity between LINKOTEL, an alternative telecommunications service provider in Lithuania, and the incumbent LIETUVAS TELEKOMAS.

"TELES.iSWITCH is extremely easy to use, administrate and maintain," said Vitalij Bogobolnikov, the technical director from LINKOTEL. The uncomplicated adaptation of the TELES.iSWITCH for interconnectivity through the National Lithuanian signaling protocol emphasizes the German vendor´s commitment to growth and to providing the technological flexibility needed in a diverse European marketplace.

As telecommunication markets open up all over the world, network operators are recognizing the possibility of establishing their business through long distance services in the form of Inter-eXchange or Transit Switching. One of the crucial issues in the long distance services market is the interconnectivity of multiple carriers, whether in the same or different regions/countries. The SS7 signaling protocol is the basis of this interconnectivity, and TELES Communication Systems with their TELES.iSWITCH SS7 solutions is providing the interconnectivity technology and hardware for their customers in numerous countries.

The TELES.iSWITCH can function as a Signaling End Point (SEP) as well as a Signaling Transfer Point (STP). And in addition to the most often required signaling protocols-DSS1, QSIC, NI2-bc and international SS7-ISUP Q.767-numerous SS7 national variants have been implemented into the TELES.iSWITCH. Based upon the versatility and capability of SS7 and other relevant signaling protocols, TELES.iSWITCH equipped carriers will have the means to operate telecommunication services and interconnect with operators worldwide. This opens the possibility for network operators to compete in all geographical telecoms markets that they wish to enter.

While the TELES.iSWITCH signaling protocols flexibility is essential in helping carriers expand their business into other geographical locations, the powerful Least Cost Routing and market-leading call rerouting features provided by the TELES.iSWITCH offer further advantages from which carriers will benefit in their daily telecommunications service operation.

Besides the successful TELES.iSWITCH, TELES has provided companies worldwide with their VoIP Gateways, SS7 Gateways, GSM Gateways and SIM Servers, and Least Cost Routers
