ArvinMeritor Gains New Brake Business with Mammoet Ferry

ArvinMeritor Inc.’s (NYSE:ARM) Commercial Vehicle Systems (CVS) group today announced that Mammoet Ferry, a leading Dutch-owned international transport company, has purchased 41 Van Hool trailers equipped with the Meritor® new ELSA 195 air disc brake. ArvinMeritor will begin delivering the disc braked axles and suspensions in July 2004.

“We are proud to offer our customers such an outstanding product and pleased to earn this new business with Mammoet Ferry and Van Hool – the biggest trailer builder in Belgium,” said Tom Hughes, European Sales and Marketing director trailer products. “The endorsement of a major operator like Mammoet is further proof of the quality and performance of the ELSA disc brake and reconfirms the company’s confidence in our product.”

Mammoet Ferry Transport Group has offices in 6 European countries and has currently has 400 trailers in its fleet, of which 100 are Van Hool Tautliners, all equipped with ELSA 195 disk brakes.

The ELSA 195 brake is part of ArvinMeritor’s ELSA disc brake family, which the company is already delivering to major OEMS, including MAN, Volvo and Rennault. The lightweight and efficient brake features a powerful sliding caliper design and installs within a 19.5-inch wheel envelope, offering market-leading torque capacities with a rating of 16,000 Nm. The ELSA, with fully automatic adjustment, has the largest swept pad area and thickness, which ensures long brake pad replacement intervals.
