Knorr-Bremse and Kyosan Sign Co-operation Agreement
Knorr-Bremse and Japanese signal equipment manufacturer Kyosan Electric Manufacturing Company Limited have concluded a strategic co-operation agreement. Signed in Tokyo by Domingo Mendieta, Senior Vice President Knorr-Bremse Asia Pacific, and Kazuo Hinata, Managing Director Kyosan Electric Manufacturing Company Limited, the agreement initially provides for Knorr-Bremse to sell its Westinghouse Platform Screen Door (WPSD) systems through Kyosan in the Japanese market.Knorr-Bremse and Kyosan Sign Co-operation Agreement
This is an exclusive co-operation arrangement: WPSD products and systems will now only be available in Japan through Kyosan. In return, Knorr-Bremse will market and sell certain Kyosan rail products and systems under the WPSD brand to the global market outside Japan through the Knorr-Bremse sales network. These will include the new gap filler product that was recently launched at InnoTrans in Berlin.
Established in 1917, Kyosan Electric Mfg. Co. Ltd., based in the city of Yokohama (Japan) has annual sales of € 525 million and a workforce of about 1,700. Its main business includes the manufacture and sale of railway signal systems, road traffic management systems, information systems, and power converters. The company also offers platform safety equipment, information systems, power supplies and signalling systems for levitated railways, AGT, LRT, suburban railways, subways and Shinkansen bullet trains in Japan.

For more than 100 years now the company has pioneered the development, production and marketing of state-of-the-art braking systems.
