Beiersdorf's Annual Report wins award

Beiersdorf's Annual Report received major recognition on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 when it was ranked first in the MDAX category by the judges of manager magazin's "Best Annual Report" competition. The manager magazin is one of the leading German business publications. At the awards ceremony in Frankfurt the award was handed over to Beiersdorf's CEO, Dr. Rolf Kunisch.

Last year, Beiersdorf came tenth among MDAX companies. The judges of this year's competition praised the effectiveness of the Company's reporting in particular; Beiersdorf received 100 out of a possible 100 points in this area.

Second place in the MDAX category this year went to Heidelberger Druck and third place went to Fresenius.

Beiersdorf came seventh (41st in the previous year) overall out of all the Annual Reports analyzed. The DAX company Münchner Rück was the overall winner.

The competition is the most comprehensive comparison of Annual Reports in Germany and one of the largest in Europe. Under the motto "What companies excel at providing investors with information?" this year's judges examined around 200 reports from companies listed on the DAX, MDAX, SDAX, TecDAX and the Stoxx 50, the European stock exchange segment.

The reports were assessed on contents, financial communication, the effectiveness of reporting, design and language. The judges were interested in particular in informative value, transparency and authenticity.
