Green light for motorways in Germany and Hungary: Bilfinger Berger to invest €67 million in new concessions projects
Financial close has been reached on the privately-financed motorway projects A1 in Northern Germany and M6 in the south of Hungary. Bilfinger Berger is providing €43 million in equity to finance the expansion of the A1, while the construction and services Group’s equity commitment in the M6 amounts to €24 million. The Company holds stakes in the concession companies of 42.5% and 45% respectively. Bilfinger Berger’s concession portfolio now includes 22 transport and real-estate projects into which €248 million in equity has been committed.Green light for motorways in Germany and Hungary: Bilfinger Berger to invest €67 million in new concessions projects
For the A1, the project company under the leadership of Bilfinger Berger assumes responsibility for financing, design and expansion of a 73-kilometer long, 6-lane section of the motorway and will operate it over a period of 30 years. During this time the consortium will ensure the availability in return for a portion of the truck toll generated on the route. Investment volume amounts to €650 million. In Hungary the Group is leading a consortium that will execute a new 65-kilometer stretch of the M6 on a privately-financed basis. This project has an investment volume of €520 million. Over the 30-year operating phase, the Company will ensure the availability of the new motorway and receives contractually-fixed payments from the Hungarian state in return.
