Golfers and sports celebrities play for children with cancer GELITA Golf Cup 2004: 16,000 euros collected for the charity "Tour of Hope" Tee-shot, approach, putt - and donate: on the weekend of 17/18 July, the GELITA Golf Cup golf tournament was carried out at the Heidelberg-Lobenfeld golf club, all proceeds going toward the charity "Tour of Hope" which provides financial and material support for hospitals for children suffering from cancer. The 18-hole golf tournament started at 11 am on Saturday morning. The weather was optimal for play and the course was in immaculate condition; participants, members of the golf club and guests, thus had every chance of improving their handicaps. After the tournament there was a gala dinner and a tombola with lots of attractive prizes, again, all proceeds going towards the "Tour de Hope". The event was sponsored by DGF STOESS AG and attended by a number of sports celebrities, e.g. Oliver Caruso, bronze medalist in weight lifting at the last Olympics, "Ironman" Timo Bracht, extreme sportswoman Astrid Benöhr and fencing gold medalist Dr. Sabine Bau, all of whom actively sold the tickets for the tombola. One surprise guest was Eberhard Gienger, World Champion on the horizontal bar and now prominent parachutist. Eberhard made a dramatic entrance with a precise landing on the 18th green with the President of the golf club, Dr. Joachim Hintz, as passenger - to the tumultuous applause of the guests on the golf club terrace. During dinner, Eurovision Grand Prix 2003 participant LOU and her band provided the music which was most appreciated by the guests. Thanks to the generosity of all involved, more than 16,000 euros were collected for the "Tour of Hope". The "Tour of Hope" This charity was established in 1983 as the "Goodwill Cycle Tour" by Prof. Fritz Lampert in Gießen to provide support for children suffering from cancer. Since 1994, it has been known in Germany as the "Tour de Hoffnung" (Tour of Hope). All donations collected are given in whole to children's hospitals both in Germany and abroad. All participants and administrators work on an honorary basis, the costs being carried by the companies and institutions that act as sponsors. www.tour-der-hoffnung.de Bildunterschrift: Photo: GELITA Lots of fun at the charity golf tournament: Golfers of the Heidelberg-Lobenfeld club Kontaktinformationen: DGF STOESS AG Communication Stephan Ruhm Uferstr. 7 69412 Eberbach Tel: +49-6271-842195 Fax: +49-6271-842718 Email: [email protected]
