New helmets for the Eisbären and Huskies The helmets fit perfectly. In addition to safety and functionality, this is the top priority for the helmets of the Berlin and Kassel-based ice hockey professionals. But head protection expresses so much more: The fighting and team spirits of the players are also reflected by the headgear of the ice hockey players in the new season. The players are aiming to impress their opponents not just with goals, but also with unusual helmets, which the Berlin-based airbrush designer Torsten Herzog was commissioned to create. Herzog is one of the most prestigious designers of sport clothing to use the airbrush technique. In addition to the Berlin and Kassel teams, his clientele also includes Canadian and Italian ice hockey teams. Commissioned by the sponsor of the helmets, Tenovis, who has been supporting the Kassel Huskies since 1996 and the Eisbären Berlin since 2002, Torsten Herzog took just three weeks to convert his ideas into finished helmets. Each individual helmet was hand sprayed and is, as such, unique. Moreover, Torsten Herzog has had the method patented. As Torsten Herzog explains: "Plastics cannot actually be painted. The plastic has to remain flexible to ensure it fulfills its purpose of protecting the wearer in any temperature." The artist bases his designs on the team's kit colors. With so much art on their heads there is now nothing to stop the Kassel Huskies making a great start to a successful season.
