Starting February 14, the "international berlin biennial for contemporary art" will take place for the third time. The Allianz Cultural Foundation is again among the main sponsors. Allianz Cultural Foundation sponsors "berlin biennial" The third "berlin biennial for contemporary art" will be held from February 14 to April 18, 2004 at different venues throughout Berlin. The international forum for current developments in the realm of fine arts is being sponsored by Allianz Cultural Foundation for the second time. With its interdisciplinary approach, the "berlin biennial for contemporary art", curated by Ute Meta Bauer, provides international artists, architects, musicians, choreographers, theater and film directors with a platform for the presentation of their works. Berlin after the wall Konrad Wolf's film "Solo Sunny" (1979) will be screened at the hub "Other Cinemas\" The structural changes in Berlin since the German reunification provide the main theme for the third berlin biennial. A wide international spectrum of fine arts, urban, film, performative and audio (\\\"sonic\\\") productions will be presented at three different Berlin venues. Through so-called \\\"hubs\\\", the works of the around 50 artists from Europe and the US will be connected to each other. The five hubs serve as information sites and thematic anchors about five main subjects: \\\"Migration\\\", \\\"Urban Conditions\\\", \\\"Sonic Scapes\\\", \\\"Fashions and Scenes\\\" and \\\"Other Cinemas\\\". \\\"The term hub is used here to describe an act of transition from one context to another\\\", the organizers say. Six external \\\"culture producers\\\" will present individual questions within the respective main theme in the hubs. The selected topics are important for Berlin both historically and currently and form part of the everyday reality of the \\\"Berlin\\\" myth at the same time. Symposium on migration Public discussions, lectures and events in cooperation with different cultural institutions in Berlin will complement the biennial program. On April 8, the biennial and the Heinrich Boell Foundation organize a symposium on \\\"Migration\\\". The berlin biennial will end with a three-day \\\"Performance Jam\\\" from April 16 to 18, 2004. Klaus Biesenbach and Eberhard Mayntz founded the association \\\"berlin biennial for contemporary art\\\" in 1996 to discuss and debate the city of Berlin in the context of contemporary art. This cultural challenge, which helps to make Berlin part of an international network far beyond the art context, is a highlight in the art scene of the capital.
