Binter Canarias takes delivery of one ATR 72-500 aircraft

The Spanish carrier Binter Canarias took delivery of an ATR 72-500 on June 18, in Toulouse. This aircraft has a 72-seat configuration and is the first of the 6 ATR 72-500s ordered in January 2004.

It is equipped with the new “Elegance” cabin, a concept which has been developed to further enhance the level of comfort for the passengers on the ATR family of aircraft. This ATR 72-500 aircraft is also the first to have been painted in the new Binter Canarias’ livery.

Three other aircraft are scheduled to be delivered this year and the remaining two at the beginning of 2005.

Binter Canarias was founded in March 1988. It operates on the Canarian inter-island network. Binter Canarias’ annual traffic accounts for more than 2,4 million passengers, performing 47,000 flights.

ATR has sold 687 aircraft (381 ATR 42 and 306 ATR 72) since the beginning of the program and posts a total of 11 orders from January 1, 2004 onwards. In Europe, 47 operators currently operate 290 ATRs.

Toulouse-based ATR is the world leader in the 50 to 70-seat turboprop market. ATR is an equal partnership between Alenia Aeronautica (Finmeccanica group) and EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company).
